Admissions

Lexden Springs School is a specialist school for children and young people aged 3–19 with severe or profound and complex learning difficulties.

Applications must be made through Essex County Council’s SEND department as part of the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process or an EHCP review.

Following a statutory assessment, the local authority decides where a child’s special educational needs can be most appropriately met. If a placement for severe or profound and complex learning difficulties is considered the best fit, Lexden Springs School may be consulted.

Once consulted, the school will review each case to confirm, firstly, that the child’s needs can be met within their defined provision and, secondly, that the young person can be admitted, taking into account the school’s capacity.
